Our Founding Story

Slam Dunk Cancer began when former professional basketball player John McIntyre

turned personal loss into a lifelong mission. After his wife Margaret survived cancer — and

after losing loved ones to the disease — John vowed to ensure that no patient faces this

battle alone.

What started as a promise became a movement. Today, Slam Dunk Cancer stands as a

beacon of hope for uninsured and underinsured cancer patients across the nation, bridging

the gap between diagnosis and life-saving treatment.
